Help Local Kids By Participating in Summer Hunger Food Drives

Help Food Lifeline keep food on the shelves of local food banks all summer long by supporting the Bartell Drugs Community Food Drive. From May 28 to June 10, your neighborhood Bartell Drugs will accept non-perishable food donations to help replenish local food banks in the summer months when families that normally depend on free or reduced-price school meals may struggle to provide healthy meals at home. To learn more, visit www.foodlifeline.org/news/calendar/BartellCommunityFoodDrive.html.

You can also help close the summer hunger gap for students in Washington with the KING 5 Summer Hunger Challenge on Friday, June 1, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donate food to any Sterling Bank branch in Western Washington or at one of the following participating schools:

  • Chain Lake Elementary in Snohomish
  • Bothell High School in Bothell
  • St Joseph School in Seattle
  • Mountain View Middle School in Bonney Lake

For another idea, host your own food and fund drive through Hopelink to help feed over 16,000 school-aged children in north and east King County. To learn how to do a drive, visit www.hope-link.org/take_action/end_summer_hunger/?events/end_summer_hunger.
