Malanje — The Vice governor of the northern Malanje province for political and social affairs, Alice Van-Dúnem, said on Wednesday in Luanda that the works of traditional midwives will contribute to the reduction of the maternal and infant death rate in the communities.
The official said so during the closing ceremony of the 6th training for 100 traditional midwives in techniques of birth delivery.
Angop learnt that the course aimed to contribute to a better assistance of pregnant women in communities.
The seminar was promoted by the National Committee for Promotion of Rural Women, with financing of Lwini Foundation, under the project dubbed "Mãos Milagrosas".
The act was attended by the Secretary of State for Rural Development, Filomena Delgado and member of the national rural women committee, Maria Medina.
