The slapstick antics and silly word play that are the mark of any films by the Marx Brothers will be on fully display when SIFF’s Films4Families program screens one of Groucho, Chico and Harpo’s best films this weekend. Duck Soup, playing at SIFF Film Center at the Seattle Center, is a perfect introduction to classic vaudevillian comedy for kids of all ages.
The show starts at noon. All tickets are $4.
The moving clearing house IMDb.com offers this synopsis of the film, first released in 1933: The small state of Freedonia is in a financial mess, borrowing a huge sum of cash from wealthy widow Mrs. Teasdale. But she insists on replacing the current president with crazy Rufus T. Firefly and mayhem erupts. To make matters worse, the neighboring state sends inept spies to obtain top secret information, creating even more chaos?
