Sci-Fi and Fantasy Short Story Youth Writing Contest: Write Out of This World

Jack Straw Productions is partnering with EMP Museum on the third annual Sci-Fi and Fantasy Short Story Contest for youth. Students in grades 3 to 12 are invited to express their creativity by submitting an original story by Jan 31. Submissions are judged by a panel of experts including EMP curators, professional writers and Seattle community leaders.

Student winners for first, second and third place will be awarded by grade level in the following categories: 3rd-5th, 6th-8th and 9th-12th. Contest winners will be invited to participate in workshops with Jack Straw Productions' experienced team of arts professionals. Winners will receive one-on-one coaching from writers and vocal coaches, and take part in a recording session to produce an audio version of their winning entry. Winners will read excerpts from their stories in EMP's Sky Church during an awards ceremony held in April.

To submit student stories, which should be between 200 and 2000 words, email the story along with the following information to Education@EMPmuseum.org: student name, grade, school and title of story. To learn more, visit EMP's website.
