Fans of the Kardashians have one more pint-sized member of the family to keep up with now that Kourtney Kardashian gave birth to a baby girl yesterday at Cedars-Senai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
And though Kourt did change her mind recently about having a water birth at home, she did go the all-natural birth route at the hospital to bring her 7-pound, 14-ounce little girl into the world. According to her mom, Kris Jenner, she had an easy delivery. (Of course she did. Most celeb moms do.)
But even though it's not a huge shock that everything was smooth sailing for Kourtney in the delivery room, it is kind of surprising that she and Scott Disick chose to break tradition a bit with their new baby girl's name.
Kourtney announced her daughter's name to E! News by saying, "Scott and I are overjoyed to welcome our precious angel Penelope Scotland Disick into our lives. We are forever blessed. Mommy and baby are resting comfortably."
More from The Stir: Jessica Simpson 'Stole' Kourtney Kardashian's Baby Name
Aww! Isn't "Penelope Scotland" the sweetest little name ever? It's so adorable and old-fashioned, but also kind of unique at the same time. I would've put money on Kourtney & Scott choosing to give their baby girl a name that started with "M" to go right in hand with their son, Mason -- or even a "K" name, since all of the Kardashian girls' names begin with that letter.
It's clear that they are trying to set their little family apart from the rest of the crew by branching out and going with a name they love instead of simply trying to make it fit with the other names in the family. And even though "Penelope" is very girly and fun, choosing "Scotland" for her middle name was a cute way to give daddy Scott Disick a nice shout out.
But now that she's arrived and we know her name -- when are we going to see some photos of the newest Kardashian?! Kris Jenner says she looks "just like Mason," so it sounds like she's just as gorgeous as her famous mama.
You can hear more about baby Penelope in the video clip below.
