There’s just something about curling up with your kids under a blanket and the wide open sky to watch a movie. It’s a Northwest tradition to love.
The weather finally gets nice enough this month to catch an outdoor flick. Your kids will love the chance to stay up late, especially if you pop some popcorn and bring some candy, indoor theater-style.
The key to a successful outing is to get there at least one hour early and set up your spot with low-backed chairs (so you don’t block other people’s view), bean bags or blankets. The movies start at dusk. The temperature will usually dip, so bring some warm clothes. If you have little ones in tow, you might dress them in pajamas and bring a pillow in case they need to crash out.
Some locations offer pre-show activities and entertainment. Others take place at parks, where kids can run around and play before the movie. Yet it’s still a good idea to bring a picnic dinner and games to pass the time before the show.
More than 20 cities in the area and seven Seattle neighborhoods are offering outdoor movies this summer. Here are some kid-friendly flicks to put in your calendar. Enjoy your movie!
